Did you know: Broccoli is an edible green plant in the cabbage family whose large flowering head is eaten as a vegetable. The word broccoli comes from the Italian plural of broccolo, which means “the flowering crest of a cabbage”, and is the diminutive form of brocco, meaning “small nail” or “sprout”. Broccoli is often boiled or steamed but may be eaten raw. Source: wiki

Home Cooked
Marianne Grinter made this amazing version of tuna sweet potato broccoli bake!
Although it looks nice and i’m sure could be great, there’s clearly a step missing from the recipe method? I followed the instructions and thought, ‘Really? The broccoli will cook from raw in that amount of time, with little liquid…?’ OK, I”ll give it a go’. Of course it didn’t… I then had to cook it for another 20 mins but the broccoli was still hard.. Then i microwaved it! Shame as the flavours are nice and it looks pretty. So, maybe amend the method a bit to instruct the reader to cook or at least par-boil the broccoli in advance? Many thanks
Thanks for your comment Lisa. This recipe worked well when we tested it. We did cut the broccoli into smallish florets, but we do like the broccoli to be just cooked rather than well done.
If you prefer it softer, your spot on, steaming it beforehand is the way to go. Let us know how you get on.
